Mettur Dam

Mettur Dam: The Lifeblood of Tamil Nadu Completed in 1934, this dam was a monumental feat of British-era engineering (specifically by Sir C.P. Ramaswamy Aiyar and W.M. Ellis).

Engineering Scale: The reservoir is named the Stanley Reservoir. It has a total length of 1,700 meters and provides irrigation for 2.7 lakh acres of farmland.

The 16-Vent Gates: When the dam reaches its full capacity of 120 feet, the surplus water is released through 16 massive gates. The "roar" of the water can be heard from kilometers away.

Ellis Park: A beautifully landscaped garden at the foot of the dam. It features a mini-zoo, children's play area, and a bridge that offers a stunning view of the dam's massive wall.
