Yercaud

Yercaud is situated in the Eastern Ghats and is unique because it is significantly more affordable and less crowded than Ooty or Kodaikanal.

The 20 Hairpin Bends: The ascent is a highlight in itself. Each bend is numbered, and as you climb, the temperature drops noticeably. The 6th and 7th bends offer the best vantage points for photographing the plains below.

The National Orchidarium: Established by the Botanical Survey of India, it houses the rare Lady’s Slipper Orchid and the Insectivorous Pitcher Plant.

Kiliyur Falls: This waterfall is formed by the overflowing waters of the Yercaud Lake. The trek down involves about 200–300 steep steps, making it a physical challenge, but the sight of the water plunging 300 feet is rewarding.

Shevaroyan Temple: Located at the highest point (5,326 feet), this is a cave temple dedicated to Lord Shevaroyan and Goddess Kaveri. Local tribes believe the cave is an entrance to a secret path leading to the Cauvery River at Mettur.
